6. CHANGING FROM POSITIVE TO NEGATIVE EARTH - ET First things first. Changing your MG electrical system polarity is easy and cheap, so don't even think about a polarity converter for your new radio. The Positive Earth Society is for concours buffs. Anyone else should feel free to change. Disconnect all battery cables from the batteries.

7. This is now correctly wired for "Negative Earth", as is the picture below. Take the time to carefully dust off the tachometer face (a small artist's paintbrush is ideal for this). Replace the "tachometer guts" into the metal housing, taking care that any rubber shrouds for the marker lights are in position as the "tachometer guts" are lowered.

8. Aug 26,  · I changed my 65 MGB over from +GND to -GND (12V) years ago. Did this due to the Lucas generator and regulator constantly were going bad. So I went with an early Delcotron (10si weren't around yet) and external regulator. Believe it, the conversion was easy, and the gas gauge worked just fine as is. Temp and Oil are mechanical.
